He was born February 18, 1950 in Strellc, Kosova the son of the late Deli and the late Cym (nee: Gervallaj) Sumaj.
He is survived by his wife, Gjylfidon Sumaj; children, Deli (Arte) Sumaj, Londim Sumaj, Bukurije Sumaj, Premtim Sumaj, and Shpejtim Sumaj. He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
